Revolution

The Civil War created a revolutionary time for the medical field. When the war first started, little was known about the practice of medicine and the human body itself:

"Whatever the disease, the army physician had no cure."
       - Civil War: America Becomes One Nation

- Medical help was needed for soldiers in both the North and South. 

- So, people entered a world of medicine to help the soldiers, establishing the medical field.
